About the project
In machine learning (ML), we design models based on our definition of intelligence, reproducing our conceptual mind and ways of thinking. This project explores the most influential ML modes through a psychological lens, questioning whether the black box of AI looks more like our own mental states than we might believe.
We are all a result of how and where we are raised – if AI achieves its promise, what kinds of independent thinking entities will grow from our designs?
In this project, Machine Learning (ML) models are the basis of ~7 different characters, deriving emotional rules from mathematical logic and generating stories around the tensions, patterns and architecture of code. Each character is being developed around a specific mental diagnosis, imagining the life that a character with these traits might lead.
Marrow lets us communicate with a ML character that grows and evolves through interaction, evoking familiar experiences of growing up.
